Badan Warisan Malaysia is the leading national NGO with the reputation for the excellence in the Heritage conservation services spanning 35 years. As an independent registered charity, our role is to raise awareness of heritage issues and advocate for the conservation-friendly environment in Malaysia. We work throughout Malaysia, cooperating with the community groups, institutions, the private sector and all levels of the government to promote the conservation and preservation of our historic building and places. We conduct research, youth education and training projects, tourism programmes as well as undertake physical restoration projects and consultancy work.

In 1995, Badan Warisan Malaysia restored and adapted the 1925 colonial bungalow into Heritage Centre located at No. 2 Jalan Stonor, Kuala Lumpur. The heritage centre currently provides an alternative venue for exhibitions, meetings and lectures. Located at No. 2 Jalan Stonor is the Chen Voon Fee Resource Centre (CVFRC). This is a specialized library and information centre which houses a collection of documents, books, periodicals, articles, measured drawings, slides, newspaper cuttings and photographs covering a range of topics from architecture, heritage sites, history, culture and legislation related to heritage in Malaysia and the region. The CVFRC is open to the public and supported by the Chen Voon Fee Charitable Trust Fund.

Also located within the compound at No. 2 Jalan Stonor is the Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman.

The Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman is one of the oldest surviving traditional Malay houses built between 1910 and the early 1930s. Originally located in Kampung Sungai Kechil, Kedah, it was rescued, relocated and restored (1996-1997) by Badan Warisan Malaysia. The Rumah Penghulu today stands as one of the finest remaining examples of Malay vernacular architecture, amidst the many high rise buildings in Kuala Lumpur.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with its many high rise buildings, the Rumah Penghulu is surrounded by a traditional herb & heritage garden which has over 50 species of trees & plants of environmental, cultural & historic interest to Malaysians.
